‘Jamun Ka Darakht’ Wins at World Film Festival in Cannes

Rafay Rashdi’s short feature ‘Jamun Ka Darakht’ (The Java Plum Tree) wins “Best Social Justice Short Film” at World Film Festival in Cannes. Rafay took to his social media handle to announce the news.

Bringing the subject of consent to forefront, ‘Jamun Ka Darakht’ is written by acclaimed screen writer Bee Gul and is produced and directed by Rafay Rashdi. It stars Adnan Siddiqui, Maha Tahirani, Fouzia Aman and Saman Ansari among others.

Rafay Rashdi, who made his directorial debut with ‘Thora Jee Le’ (2017), has made his directorial comeback with this short feature and is now working on his next feature film ‘Deemak’ that stars Faisal Quraishi and Sonya Hussyn in lead roles and will release in cinemas later this year.
