Shamoon Abbasi’s directorial debut film “Durj” (2019) remains one of the most prominent films of the year it released, not because of its box office but because of the subject it offered, i-e, cannibalism and the sub-sequent hurdles if faced at the hands of censor board.

We at PakistaniCinema.Net contacted Shamoon to know more about the said sequel. “Durj: Chapter 2 is going to be a step ahead in the life of Gul and Laali (the two main characters). With new characters joining (and new actors) joining the cast of film, the Chapter 2 of ‘Durj’ will explore a new dimension of their story”, told Shamoon while speaking to Pakistani Cinema.

In the first part, the actors had to undergo body transformations for their roles. Will the cast have to go through all that all over again? Shamoon responded to this query saying that: “People loved the get-ups and looks that we carried in ‘Durj’, hence, we are not going to change the dynamics of the characters. But as the story is now opening after 9 years therefore new elements will be added that are going to keep the audience glued to the screens”.

Cast of the “Durj: Chapter 2” will be announced in June with a new poster. Film is scheduled to go on floors in June this year with a tentative plan to release it in cinemas in 2025.
