“Doda”, the first Balochi language feature film to be released in over 50 years is now making its way to the 2024 DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF). The film was originally released in September of 2022 and was a modest success.
Our review of the film highlighted its appeal to the working class as well as its highlight of Balochi culture and its community of senior artists.
Doda’s journey to foreign film festivals gives hope that the Baloch community of artists will be recognized by audiences abroad.
DCSAFF is an initiative by the DC South Asian Arts Council Inc. (DCSAACI). The non-profit was formed in 2011 to further South Asian film, literature and arts throughout the US. DCSAFF 2024 will be celebrated from September 6-22.
