Fawad Khan Starrer ‘Abir Gulaal’ Set for Worldwide Release, Except India

The Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor starrer Bollywood movie ‘Abir Gulaal’ was initially scheduled for release on April 22. The film’s promotions had kickstarted with the music album being launched by the cast in Dubai. However, the film’s release was halted due to escalated tensions between India and Pakistan.

Four months later, the film is now set for a global release on August 29, according to Indian media reports. However, following the release strategy of ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ and ‘Chal Mera Putt 4’, the film will not be released in India due to the ban on Pakistani artists in the country.

According to Bollywood Hungama, an industry insider commented: “The makers of Abir Gulaal will go the Sardaar Ji 3 way. The Diljit Dosanjh-starrer didn’t get a release in India as it starred Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. It went on to do huge business overseas. Another Punjabi film, Chal Mera Putt 4, also had a release only outside India and it became a huge success.”

While the previous two films featuring Pakistani artists, despite being banned in India, achieved huge success overseas, will ‘Abir Gulaal’ also be able to succeed overseas and in Pakistan? Only time will tell. Stay tuned to this space for more updates.
