‘Project Ghazi’ Release Delayed for a Week “in Support of Pakistani Cinema”

The release of the Humayun Saeed and Sheheryar Munawwar superhero flick, “Project Ghazi”, has been delayed to March 29th. The Official Facebook page for the film announced that the film slated for release on March 22nd would now be releasing a week after.

The twofold reason for the delay was chalked up to the prevalent security situation in the country as well as lending support to the other Pakistani films releasing on 22nd March; “Laal Kabootar” and “Sher Dil”. This way the three films wouldn’t have to fight for screen real estate on the same day and would have room to organically grow and reach wider audiences.

This friendly gesture is much needed in a film industry which is currently growing and sees frequent competition for screens on national holidays. The team of “Project Ghazi” also wished Sher Dil and Laal Kabootar “a successful flight” referring to the common theme of flight in the former’s plot and the latter’s name.
Project Ghazi was originally slated to release in the summer of 2017. However, halfway through the film’s premier at DHA Nueplex, Karachi, Humayun Saeed asked for the film to be pulled from theaters. It was apparently very unpolished and filled with technical faults like poor sound recording and lighting.

The film was finally given a new release date a few weeks ago when a recut trailer was released, showing clear improvements to the film’s look and sound. Project Ghazi will now be releasing on Friday, the 29th of March. Hopefully this time it’ll deliver an opening as explosive as the trailer was.
