With the most anticipated films set to hit the box office Eid ul Fitr this year, would have been extremely big. While the prevailing COVID situation has seen a delay in the release of movies Pakistani Cinema fans however have a lot of rejoicing. As not one not to but five Pakistani movies are set to premiere worldwide on our TV screens. Here’s a list of the movies premiering on Eid.
The Donkey King
Initially released in 2018 “The Donkey King” is a critically acclaimed computer-animated film. The film proved to be an “Animation for all Ages” and tells the story of a Donkey named “Mangu” who is a dumb washerman, yet is hardworking and believes in his dreams. The film became a hit among masses and went on to shatter many boxoffice records becoming highest-grossing animated film of all times in Pakistan. The film will be premiering on Eid Day 1 at 7:00 PM on Geo Tv.
Superstar
Directed by Ehteshamudin “Superstar” starring Mahira Khan and Bilal Ashraf was released back on Eid Ul Azha 2019. The film follows journey of aspiring actress “Noor” played by Mahira Khan who comes across already established actor “Sameer” played by Bilal Khan falls in love with him and what follows is a gripping tale of love, Superstardom, and tragedy. The film also marked a pivotal return of ace actor Nadeem Baig to the big screen and is a must watch for his fans. The film is set to premiere on 2nd day of Eid at 8:00 PM on Hum TV.
Heer Maan Ja
Among the other two movies released on Eid Ul Azha last year, Heer Maan Ja was unique for its light-hearted action romantic comedy genre. The story of “Heer Maan Ja” revolves around Heer, (played by Hareem), Kabir (played by Ali Rehman Khan) and Wajdaan (played by Faizan Shaikh). It follows Heer’s escape from her house on day of her marriage. How Kabir becomes a part of this runaway bride’s adventure and reveals how Kabir and Heer had initially parted ways and what lies ahead for them. Watch out the film on 2nd Day of Eid at 9:00 PM on Geo TV if you are in for an engaging rom com with all the ingredients of an Eid entertainer.
Wrong No 2
A sequel to the hit Wrong No, the Yasir Nawaz directorial Wrong No 2 was released back in 2019. The film starring Sami Khan and Neelam Muneer was an instant hit among the audience. The comedy movie hits the right chords with the audience and is a mass entertainer. You sure cannot miss it out this eid with friends and family. The movie is set to be premiered on Geo Tv on Eid Day 3 at 9:00 PM. Making it the 3rd movie to be premiered from Geo this Eid.
Baaji
Last but not the least “Baaji” staring Meera, Amna Ilyas, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Osman Khalid Butt is the only movie to be premiered from ARY Digital platform this Eid. Shahmeera played by Meera is a fading Lollywood actress who is set to make her comeback to silver screens and how her salon girl turned Assistant “Neha” played by Amna Ilyas, goes on to acquire a role in her comeback film and how she is dethroned by her. The movie marked directorial debut of Saqib Malik and was received well critically. The movie is set to be premiered on Ary Digital on Eid Day 3 at 9:00 PM.
