The sequel to the super-successful 2015 comic caper Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (JPNA) was always expected to do well. However, the magnitude of its success has come as a pleasant surprise for the industry, and of course the loyal fans of Pakistani cinema. JPNA 2 smashed opening day records by collecting an excellent 3.24 crores from the Pakistani circuit alone. Combined with its overseas tally, the film collected 5.39 crores (not including figures from North America). It managed to show solid growth on day 2, collecting 3.57 crores and was steady on Friday (which was a working day) with figures of 3.37 crores.
To add the proverbial cherry on top to its crowning box-office achievement, JPNA 2 now has broken the Saturday records for any film release to date in Pakistan by collecting a humongous 3.7 crores, according to box office tracking website boxofficedetail. The combined box office tally for the film now stands a little shy of 14 crores, and its 5 day extended weekend will aggregate at around 17.5 crores. This is especially a remarkable achievement given that the film was releasing against 2 other solid productions. Here’s hoping that the movie continues to smash box office records!
