Pakistani Short Film ‘Darling’ Wins Big at Venice Film Festival

Whether it be the feature films, documentaries or short films, the recent period has seen Pakistani filmmakers gaining international recognition with their work. Not only are our films being displayed at prestigious international platforms but are also making it big.

One recent example is Saim Sadiq’s “Darling”. The short film telling the story of a young boy and a transgender girl has won Best Short Film award at Orizon/Horizon section of Venice Film Festi La Biennalle De Venezia 2019.

Produced by Nadia Afgan, Mahak Jiwani, Fahad Nabi and Jasmin Tannuci (Brazilian actor), the film earlier became the first Pakistani film to make it to the world’s oldest film festival and is a Co-production between Brazil and Pakistan.
