The countless fans of Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan will be elated to hear that the shooting schedule for their upcoming film Neelofar has finally concluded. The Verna star took to Instagram to share a nostalgia inducing BTS shot showing her timeworn script pages along with what we presume are mementos from the sets. Captioning the shot, she wrote “I take with me a piece of you. leaving a bit of my soul with you. My darling Neelofar, I shall miss you, oh so much,” indicating that this is one film that is very close to her heart.

Now one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the forthcoming year, Neelofar went on floors in late January only for the production to be brought to a halt by the Covid-19 pandemic shortly afterwards. Production resumed several months later, and as things stand today it has finally progressed to its post-production phase, with Mahira announcing “It’s a wrap” via her Instagram account.
Written and directed by Ammar Rasool, who has several foreign shorts to his credit, the film will be distributed by IMGC entertainment and will mark the long awaited reunion of screen favorites Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan after nearly a decade, their last outing being Humsafar the play that catapulted them to stardom. The pair were expected to grace the screens earlier this year with The Legend Of Maula Jatt, slated to hit the screens over Eid-ul-Fitr, however that project will now release next year.
While not much information has been revealed about the film’s storyline and genre, the idyllic behind the scenes snippets shared by Mahira Khan seem to hint at a romantic drama with plenty by way of subtlety and nuance. That, if it happens, will be music to our ears for the good looking couple seem to excel in that genre and just might pull up another Humsafar on us. Or so, we wish.
