‘Zindagi Tamasha’ is a film that has been in and out of the news cycle quite a bit over the past two years. The critically acclaimed arthouse drama has won awards at the Busan International Film Festival and the Asian World Film Festival, and audiences at home in Pakistan have been wondering all along how to get a peek.
It turns out that things are (finally) falling in place for the film to see the light of day. “Something’s brewing, there’s hope,” said director Sarmad Khoosat somewhat cryptically when we asked him about the film’s release, which has been announced for March 18, 2022. Besides ‘Zindagi Tamasha‘ Khoosat also wrapped the shoot of ‘Kamli‘ last year. That film is “in the last leg of post production,” according to the Humsafar director and he expects to release it “sometimes in the first quarter next year,” once things are more clear about release of the large backlog of films pending to hit the theaters. “Besides the two films, I have also shot as a suspense-thriller series for an upcoming channel that ought to be going on air soon,” he added.
