Ever since the reopening of cinemas, Abu Aleeha has been one of the very few filmmakers to take the financially risky step of releasing their films. While other major films still await release, the post cinema reopening period has seen release of two of Aleeha’s films: revenge-thriller “Sheenogai” and horror-comedy ”Udham Patakh“, while his two other projects, “Javed Iqbal” and “Once Upon A Time in Karachi”, have already got a release date .
And there seems to be no stopping for the director as now he has announced his new project ,a Punjabi comedy film, titled “Shot Cut”. The star cast of the film includes Mirza Gohar Rasheed, Juggun Kazim, Naseem Vicky, Sana Fakhar, Ahmed Hassan, debutant Alia Khan, Nawaz Anjum, Honey Bella, Marhom Ahmed Bilal, Erum Malhi, Ahmed Nawaz, Balbir Singh, Harmeet Singh and few other comedians from the world of theatre.
When asked about opting for comedy genre this time around, while his previous projects have been off beat mostly, the director told Pakistani Cinema that after the depressing times of recent pandemic, people desperately need a comedy entertainer. “Shot Cut” being a situational comedy film will definitely serve the purpose.
The shooting of the film will commence from February and will be wrapped up within a month and it is slated for release on Eid-ul-Azha, 2022.
The film is being produced by Javed Ahmed Kakepoto, Faheem Sameejo and Sufi Hashim Bin Harris.
