Box Office: “Kamli” Grosses Over 3.5 Cr, Keeps Steady Pace in 2nd Week

Sarmad Khoosat’s “Kamli”, apart from receiving widespread critical praise, has become a decent commercial success at the box office. Its impressive hold over the box office has resulted in a total gross of over 3.52 crores PKR according to BoxOfficeDetail.

The film grossed 2.05 crores in its first week, building on great word of mouth as well as the critical praise showered on it by numerous publications. However, its second week totals of 1.47 crores beat expectations, showing a drop of just 30%.

For a non-commercial art piece, this is a very good hold at the box office. If the hold remains, then “Kamli” may yet gross 5 crores or even higher.

Whatever the case may be, this means there is room in Pakistan for thought provoking social dramas with niche appeal. Sarmad Khoosat’s “Manto” demonstrated this back in 2015, and he has demonstrated it again with “Kamli”.
