Anthology movies around the world are loved by global audience. It is a popular format, especially on various OTT platforms. Different directors team up to depict raw human emotions, societal issues, mystery, thriller and romance to create diverse content. The entertainment industry of Pakistan is all set to launch its first ever anthology movie ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyaan’. The film unites the directorial vision of Nadeem Baig, Nabeel Qureshi and debutant director Marina Khan with three different stories. The trailer of film released online on Friday night and it guarantees a cocktail of entertainment.

Jin Mahal

Director: Nabeel Qureshi

Writer: Ali Abbas Naqvi and Basit Naqvi

Cast: Hira, Mani and Gul-e-Rana

The comedy horror genre is rarely explored in Pakistan. It’s good to see Nabeel Qureshi trying something different; he takes up the challenge of giving audiences a dose of laughs and terror. ‘Jin Mahal’ is the story of a family haunted by a ghost. After encountering strange occurrences in their house, they decide to hide and shift in a vacated train compartment. Decoding the trailer, ‘Jin Mahal’ maintains a balance, for instance, the horror won’t scare the hell out of viewers, neither it’s immature. Apart from the horror bit, we can sense a lot more drama and emotional moments.

Pasoori

Director: Marina Khan

Writer: Vasay Chaudhry

Cast: Sheheryar Munawar, Ramsha Khan, Babar Ali and Laila Wasti

We are well aware of Marina Khan’s brilliance and success ratio on TV and this is what excites us for her silver screen directorial debut. ‘Pasoori’ marks the fresh pairing of Munawar and Khan. Set in a modern household, the latter prefers her ambitions over marriage and decides to quit her wedding at the eleventh hour. Shehreyar’s family seems to have severe OCD which comes across as hilarious. Whatever we saw in Pasoori’s trailer is a refreshing and unique take on relationships.

Aik Sau Taeswaan

Director: Nadeem Baig

Writer: Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar

Cast: Wahaj Ali, Mehwish Hayat, Zahid Ahmed and Amna Illyas

Two strangers from different worlds meet on a train and embark on an unexpected journey. Ali plays an artist who praises Hayat’s beauty. The latter is married and a victim of infidelity. Will love surprise them at this point in their life? ‘Aik Sau Taeswaan’ brings us back to the old world charm, the adab, shayri and the nuances of that era. The tried and tested combination of Baig, Hayat and Qamar in ‘Aik Sau Taeswaan’ is the most impactful of the three. Adding more Tarka is Ali who with his stardom is making his fans go weak at their knees. We are super excited for this one!

Summing it up

‘Teri Meri Kahaniyaan’ is surely a welcoming move for cinema in Pakistan. It allows cinemagoers to avail ‘Aik Ticket Mein Teen Mazay’. If you are also the one tired of watching run-of-the-mill and stereotypical content, then ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyan’ is surely your cup of tea this Eid-ul-Azha.
