‘Nayab’ has racked up a respectable PKR 46 Lacs on its opening weekend. The Yumna Zaidi starrer has done better than the recently released five films as well as the majority of film releases in 2023. Word of mouth and continuing shows can help generate a lot more revenue since it is a family entertainer and a commercial film.
‘Chikkar’, the Usman Mukhtar starrer crime drama, has generated a lifetime total of 70 Lacs PKR. While by no means a triumph, Chikkar’s gross is admirable as it had a limited release and lacked a promotional campaign.
Pakistani cinema needs a lot more heavy hitters in 2024 to get theaters buzzing again. Let’s hope this is just the beginning.
