Aasmaan Kab Bolay Ga: Where is Shoaib Mansoor’s Air Force Film?

In December of 2022, the teaser of ‘Aasmaan Bolay Ga’ dropped online. The cast including Emmad Irfani and Maya Ali, was announced with a lot of fanfare. After many years, Shoaib Mansoor was coming back to work his magic on screen.

Since then there has been radio silence. This has been worrying for a couple of reasons.

Operation Swift Retort

‘Aasman Bolay Ga’ is about “Operation Swift Retort”, the retaliation to the Balakot Airstrikes from India. This is a true story, and great plot to get audiences interested. It could potentially mint 50-100 Cr at the box office.

Shoaib Mansoor’s Magic

Shoaib Mansoor is one of the most accomplished artists in Pakistan’s history. He’s been famed as the man with the Midas Touch. Music, TV, Film, there’s nothing he hasn’t done wonders in. He made “Khuda Kay Liye” and “Bol” when the film industry was lying dormant and got audiences into theatres again. His film will get them into theatres today when the industry most needs it.

Bollywood’s Jingoistic Films

Since India’s current government has been in power, the number of jingoistic films has been increasing each year. “Uri: The Surgical Strike”, “Shershaah”, “Gadar 2”, “Bhuj: The Pride of India”, “Sooryavanshi”, “Mission Majnu”, “Pathaan”, etc. are all examples of films which have shown Pakistan as a terrorist state.

In 2024, two Bollywood titles feature Pakistan as the villain; “Fighter” and “Mission Valentine”. Both are about the Balakot Strikes. “Fighter” has already been released and shows some very anti Pakistan rhetoric. The same may be said about “Mission Valentine” when it releases.

While the Pakistani film industry shouldn’t stoop to making jingoistic films, there should at least be a film where we tell our side of the story.

‘Aasmaan Bolay Ga’ Is Ready

PakistaniCinema.Net has learned from its sources in the industry that ‘Aasman Bolay Ga’ has been completed in its entirety.

Why has there been silence on it then?

Where is the trailer?

Where is the release date announcement?

There are certainly no other films in the market which can compete with it right now. In fact, the film could’ve come out in January and set the box office on fire as a reply to “Fighter”.

Perhaps the prevailing disinterest in cinemas in Pakistan is the reason why it hasn’t been released. Perhaps producers are waiting to lock in a release date. Perhaps there are reshoots to be done or some behind the scenes drama we’re unaware of.

However, having a film this big be complete and not ready for release is baffling. It hurts the film industry to have such a talent as Shoaib Mansoor holding back his work.

So, we ask again: Aasmaan Kab Bolay Ga?
