Two major local films, ‘Nayab’ and ‘Taxali Gate’, have released in cinemas in first two months of this year. However, Indonesian horror film ‘Sijjin’ has continued to dominate the Pakistani box office. Let’s have a look at how these films fared at box office.
Sijjin
The Indonesian film has managed to pull in a reasonably good footfall to Pakistani movie theaters. According to Cinepax Cinemas, the official distribution partner for the film in Pakistan, the horror flick has so far managed to rake in 5 crore PKR from Pakistani market.
This overwhelming business has made the distributers of ‘Sijjin’ to import two more Indonesian horror films: ‘Waktu Maghrib’ and ‘Pemandi Jenazah’.
Taxali Gate
Abu Aleeha’s ‘Taxali Gate’ released in cinemas across Pakistan, UK and Canada on February 16. The Ayesha Omar, Yasir Hussain and Mehr Bano starrer opened to a dull start in UK with a collection of £1,738 (6 lac PKR) over the first weekend. As per film’s official page, it has grossed 1.5 crore PKR in 10 days from these three major markets.
Nayab
Yumna Zaidi starrer, according to EPK, has managed to collect 14 lac PKR from Pakistan over the fourth week. Film’s four week total from domestic market now stands at 1.55 crore PKR. Film also raked in approximately 91 lac PKR from major overseas markets like North America, UK and UAE over the first weekend. Film’s worldwide box office is now around 2.5 crore PKR approximately with some overseas markets yet unreported.
