All The Films Releasing in Pakistani Cinemas on Eid Ul Fitr 2025

There is a smorgasbord of films releasing on Eid Ul Fitr this year. A mixture of Hollywood, Indian Punjabi, and Pakistani films will be releasing, including some re-releases. So if you’re going to the theater on Eid, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Pakistani Films

6 new Pakistani films are releasing in theaters this Eid.

The Martial Artist

Shaz Khan’s passion project is finally releasing on Eid Ul Fitr. This film about a small time MMA fighter getting a shot at a huge fight seems to be the biggest release of the season. If you liked movies like ‘Rocky’, ‘Southpaw’, or our very own ‘Shah’, then this is the one for you.

Kabeer

This action film starring Meesam Ali and Adnan Shah Tipu seems to be an homage to the Bollywood films of the 80s and 90s, as well as to the South Indian action films of recent times. If you’re curious to see what the makers have wrought, go buy a ticket.

Ishq-e-Lahore

The team that brought to you ‘Lahore Qalandar’ before is now coming up with ‘Ishq-e-Lahore’ this Eid which is an action film starring Javed Sheikh, Saima Noor and Altamash Butt. Altamash Butt and Saima Noor star as husband and wife who go up against Javed Sheikh, a mafia don. If you’re interested in seeing a lot of yesteryear faces, go watch this one.

Qulfee

This film starring Shahroze Sabzwari, Javed Sheikh and Adnan Shah Tipu is about a hacker turned thief. The titular Qulfee is a program he writes to hack into any bank in the world. The film looks like it’s filled with a lot of lighthearted entertainment and action.

Half Fry

Abu Aleeha’s latest offering stars Mohsin Abbas Haider, Nausheen Shah and Adnan Shah Tipu. An action-comedy film, this one is a re-edit of his previous venture “Once Upon a Time in Karachi” that was never released.

Lambi Judaai

This film starring Babar Ali seems to be an ode to the Lollywood films of the 90s. Go for this one if you’re nostalgic about old faces and want some old school action and romance.

Hollywood Films

2 big budget Hollywood films are releasing this Eid Ul Fitr; a Disney live action remake and a videogame adaptation. Both are films you can watch with your kids and families.

Snow White

Mired in controversy, the Snow White live action remake is probably the most divisive movie release of the year.

It tells the story of the beloved 1937 children’s classic all over again, with a few additions and changes. If you’re a fan of the live-action stuff Disney has made over the past 10 years, then this is worth a watch.

A Minecraft Movie

Minecraft is one of the biggest video games on the planet. Children of all ages have played it and continue to play it to this day.

The video game adaptation starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Jennifer Coolidge is poised to be a big money spinner. Whether it’ll be as big as the billion-dollar ‘Super Mario Brothers’ movie remains to be seen.

Indian Punjabi Films

Indian Punjabi films have been consistent money spinners in the Pakistani Punjab province since an exception was made after the opening of the Kartarpur corridor. With 3 new offerings this Eid, the trend may well continue this year.

Sardaarji 2

This Indian Punjabi film starring Diljit Dosanjh in a triple role is a laugh riot. A standalone sequel, this is a 2016 entertainer re-releasing in Pakistan. The film was lauded for its comedy and dialogue and features some great music; particularly the track “Mitran da Junction”.

Tenu Ghodi Kinney Chadaya

This film is about wedding festivities and rituals. If you’re addicted to wedding entertainment and yearn to live, laugh, and love, then this is the one for you.

Mithde

Mithde is a love triangle story about a village boy who falls in love with 2 girls at the same time. If you’re yearning for some light romance, then this might be the one for you.

Horror Films

Continuing the trend of distributing horror films because one worked in 2024 (Sijjin), 4 horror films are releasing in Pakistan on Eid Ul Fitr.

Locked (Urdu Dubbed)

Starring Bill Skarsgard, (who you know as Pennywise the Clown) and the voice of Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal Lecter himself), ‘Locked’ is a psychological thriller.

It’s about a car thief who gets trapped in the vehicle he was trying to steal. The owner, voiced by Hopkins, torments and tortures him remotely using the advanced functionality in the car.

The film is produced by Sam Raimi (director of the Evil Dead series and Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman franchise), so if you like his brand of horror, strap in for this one.

Anak Kunti (Indonesian Film/Urdu Dubbed)

Continuing the recent import of Indonesian horror films, ‘Anak Kunti’ is about a girl who’s friend goes missing in a village steep in ancient rituals and haunted by spirits. The film’s title means Kunti’s Child. If you’re a fan of Indonesian horror, you’ll like this one.

Almarhum (Indonesian Film)

The title means ‘deceased’ and that’s what the film is about. It centers on a funeral after which things begin going wrong for a neighbourhood. Give this one a watch if you’re curious.

The Bitter Taste (German Film)

This German horror film is about an athlete travelling through the woods who stumbles near the home of an undead countess. As she struggles to survive, she uses her athletic skills to fight and escape. Watch this one for the novelty.

Re-Release

Two films are also re-releasing in cinemas this Eid. If you want to catch old favourites, this is the time.

Teri Meri Kahaniyaan

Pakistan’s most recent anthology film, ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyaan’, is composed of 3 segments directed by Nadeem Baig, Nabeel Qureshi, and Marina Khan. The film was lauded by critics when it first released in 2023. It also marked cinema debut of TV’s heartthrob Wahaj Ali.

Carry on Jatta 3

Carry on Jatta 3 was a huge money spinner in 2023. It made over PKR 30 Cr at the local box office. If you enjoyed this one in the theater, you may want to get tickets again.
