Fall is a great time for films. It’s right after the summer blockbuster season and the time is ripe for smaller, but often overlooked gems that can surprise. As with fall and Halloween coming up in the west, the season is also filled with horror releases. And as it turns out, there are some Pakistani releases waiting as well.
So, here are some exciting fall movie releases to watch out for.
Resident Evil – Friday, 18th September 2026
This is a wholly new film based on the iconic video-game series. The previous films, led by actress Milla Jovovich, which had little to do with the original video-games, were heavily panned by critics, but had their own niche audience.
This installment is said to be based on the game Resident Evil 2 from the late 1990s. It is directed by Zach Cregger, the filmmaker behind the horror films ‘Weapons’ and ‘Barbarian’. The film has already gained strong reviews from critics and is one of the most anticipated horror films of the year
.
Avengers Endgame (Re-release) – Friday, 25th September, 2026
To prepare avid Marvel fans for the movie event that is ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, Marvel Studios has decided to re-release ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in September.
This is your chance to experience the biggest comic book movie ever, at least until Doomsday comes out, in the theaters.
It’s been 7 years since it first hit theaters and set the world on fire. While the excitement probably won’t be the same, it’s definitely a welcome chance to hear “AVENGERS… Assemble!” again.
Heart of the Beast – Friday, 25th September, 2026
In 2025, Brad Pitt thrilled audiences with some of the best racing sequences ever filmed with ‘F1’. This year, he’s journeying into the wild with his faithful canine companion in a survival thriller called ‘Heart of the Beast’.
Brad Pitt plays a special forces officer whose plane crashes in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they must brave the wilds and find their way back to civilization. If you’ve been hungering for a survival thriller, this is the one for you.
Forgotten Island – Friday September 25, 2026
This is the only animated film on the list, and one which looks different enough that you can take your family to it. The story is set in the 1990s in the Philippines and involves two friends who find themselves swept off to a fantastical island which feeds on memories.
The film stars Filipino American artists H.E.R and Liza Soberano along with Dave Franco.
Verity – Friday 2nd October, 2026
If you love unsettling horror films, you’re going to love this one. Based on the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name, the film centers on Verity Crawford, a renowned writer who has become paralyzed after an accident. Her husband hires a ghostwriter to finish her book and live with them during the task.
During the stay, the ghostwriter begins to suspect that Verity may not be paralyzed, and that something more sinister is going on underneath the facade. The film stars Anne Hathaway as Verity, Josh Hartnett as her husband, and Dakota Johnson as the ghostwriter.
DIGGER – Friday 2nd October, 2026
When the first teaser for this film came out, people started thinking this was Tom Cruise’s push for an Oscar win. Directed by Alejandro Innaritu, ‘DIGGER’ is Tom Cruise returning to his dramatic roots and playing completely against type; though perhaps completely apt for his age.
DIGGER seems to be about an oil tycoon who triggers a global disaster while drilling for oil in the ice. With John Goodman as the President of the United States and the rest of his team by his side, DIGGER tries to “dig” his way out of it.
The trailers show everything and nothing about this story; except that it’s probably a scathing satire about the state of the world today.
Sheroes – Friday 2nd October
This is the second film project from Sindh Films after ‘Mera Lyari. Starrring Kinza Hashmi, Zara Noor Abbas, and Ushna Shah, ‘Sheroes’ seems to be an anthology focusing on an artist, a police officer, and a boxer, respectively.
Directed by Saqib Khan, who made his debut as film director with ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ (2022), the film is an anthology with 3 completely separate stories.
While it’s not Pakistan’s first anthology, the prospect of watching these 3 actresses on the big screen may entice their fans into booking tickets.
Street Fighter – Friday 16th October
We have again arrived at a year when we’ve gotten a ‘Mortal Kombat’ and ‘Street Fighter’ film in the same year. While Mortal Kombat has a larger legacy behind it, Street Fighter has more star power.
Starring budding talents like “The Recruit” star Noah Centineo as Ken, “Warrior” series star Andrew Koji, WWE star Roman Reigns as Akuma, Indian action star Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, stand up comedian Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, and Eric Andre as Don Sauvage, the film is packed to the brim with niche and fan favourites.
Whether it’ll measure up to the fun and ham of the 1994 film starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia, remains to be seen. However, the trailers make it seem like a lot of fun. At the very least we’ll get some great action.
Mango Jutt – Friday 16th October
This one’s been in the pipeline for a couple of years now, and is finally getting a release. Starring Faisal Qureishi and Hareem Farooq, ‘Mango Jutt’ is a Punjabi action comedy. It tells the story of the titular Mango Jutt and his fight against villains.
While the plot is quite simplistic, the action sequences, and Faysal Qureishi’s first feature film in many years is certainly worth looking out for.
Clayface – Friday, 23rd October 2026
One of the creepiest Batman villains ever is Clayface. With the ability to change his appearance into anyone and anything, as well as grow to humongous sizes, the villain has been one of the most dangerous ones featured in the Batman games and animated series.
However, he has seldom gotten as much attention as the Joker, Bane, or the Riddler. He has yet to make a film appearance. With his own solo film, which takes a similar sympathetic look at the villain as “The Joker” did, he might finally get his celluloid moment.
