Sarmad Khoosat announces the cast and more details of his next directorial

Earlier we informed our readers regarding Manto director Sarmad Khoosat’s next two directorial ventures that he announced for the year 2019. One of those films was supposed to be a Punjabi film and we have got some more news on the same yet untitled project which already has gone on floor and will be the first production under the banner of “Khoosat Films”.

Sarmad seems to be going all “fresh” for the project as most of his team members will be making their film debut with this project. The film will feature Emaan Suleiman as leading lady and joining her will be the supremely talented Samia Mumtaz. Emaan is a known face in fashion and was launched to TV screens by Sarmad this year via a serial titled Akhri Station where she shared screen space with Shah famed Adnan Sarwar.

As with the rest of the cast, it will feature Arif Hasan & Ali Kureishi in the leads. The film will be shot in Lahore. “Lahore will play as a character in this film, unlike a backdrop in earlier released films”, said Sarmad while speaking to an entertainment portal.

The story of this yet untitled film is conceived by Sarmad himself and debutant  Nirmal Bano, a NCA graduate has done the screenplay. The film is being produced by Sarmad’s sister Kanwal Khoosat, whose directed theatre play Mushk was applauded by all earlier this year. Music of the film is done again by a debutant band “Sakin” whereas Khizer Idrees will be donning the DOP cap who previousely has done cinematography for Sarmad’s debut film Manto and  Shoaib Mansoor’s Verna.

With such an exciting combination of fresh and experienced talent we do anticipate the film will bring the much needed freshness to our silver screens.

We wish all the best to team Sarmad for the project. Keep reading this space for more updates on Pakistani cinema.
