“There are No Double Roles in ‘Wrong No. 2′”, says Sami Khan

Starting his career from big screen with Shahzad Rafique’s film “Salakhain”, Sami Khan was later welcomed by television industry where he not only rose to fame but also got many opportunities to prove his acting skills. With two mega hit drama serials of last year on his credit, i-e, “Khudgharz” and “Aisi Hai Tanhai”, Sami Khan has now made his silver screen comeback after almost a decade.

While his first film after comeback, “Gumm”, couldn’t leave a mark (except for controversies), Khan’s next cinema project seems to have all the right reasons to prove a box office hit. We at PakistaniCinema, got intouch with the star of “Wrong No. 2” to know more about this project.

You have worked with Yasir Nawaz for his drama serial “Khudgharz”. How was your experience of working with him now for a film? Also did “Khudgharz” experience helped you any way this time?

“Yasir Nawaz is a brilliant director. He made me do a negative role in “Khudgharz” and it was very well received. This time he made me do comedy so I am hoping that audience will love this effort as well. And yes working with Yasir in “Khudgharz” really helped me in understanding his way of directing a project.”

Tell us about the character you are playing in this film?

“Well I cannot disclose a lot right now because it would be like giving away the whole concept of this project. But all I can say for now is that this character is of a very simple guy who falls in love and who doesn’t believe in short-cuts. He is very honest and wants to achieve everything in his life with pure honesty. He is pretty Seedha Saadha aadmi

“Wrong No.” had Danish Taimoor in a double role. Are we going to see you in any double role in this one?

“Nope.. There wont be any double role. This time it’s a completely different set up but there is still a wrong number in there which you will find only on Eid. (Laughs).”

How has it been working with Neelam Muneer Khan as co-star?

“She is a wonderful actress and a great human being. Someone who is always supportive to the whole team and there is no trace of any tantrums in her at all. She honestly is a blessing on set as a co-star.”

If we talk about your comeback film “Gumm”, it found itself in controversies as many of its crew members came up against film’s producers. How was your personal working experience with the makers of that project?

“My personal experience was very good. Whatever the controversies are, it’s better if someone call the makers and the people complaining about them and make them sit face to face. May be then we can get a clear picture. And I always do my work and try to stay out of controversies.”

“Gumm” could not work at box office. What as an actor you now think if done better, could have generated a better result?

“Honestly, I never expected it to do wonders at box office. It was an experimental subject with a different genre and I learnt a lot as an actor while filming for “Gumm”. I personally believe that it was specifically made for the festivals and it did good run there and won six awards. Both Ammar and Kanza are very talented and now they intend to make a commercial film. They have proved their work in festivals and i am sure they will prove it in commercial cinema as well and I wish them all the best for their next project.“

Lastly, how would you market “Wrong No. 2”?

“It’s a fun filled roller coaster ride. If u want to laugh and have a good time with your friends and family on Eid. Rush to a cinema near you this Eid, grab your popcorn and watch “Wrong No. 2”. Your Eid will be well spent InshaAllah.”

Under the banner of Distribution Club, Geo Films, Excellency Films and YNH Films, “Wrong No. 2” is all set to hit theatres this Eidul Fitr.
