Abu Aleeha’s next venture, “Half Fry”, was announced about a month ago. The casting of Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain received much fanfare because of their recent engagement announcement. However, Abu Aleeha has decided to imbue the film with a little nostalgia for old fans of Pakistani cinema. “Half Fry” will feature a cover of “Dildar Sadqay”, the iconic song by Noor Jahan.
Picturized originally on Ejaz and Naghma, the song was a highlight of the 1972 film Sultan. The lyrics by Hazeen Qadri, music by Nazir Ali, and of course the vocals by Noor Jahan have remained etched in collective memory for more than 40 years now. This may be the reason Abu Aleeha has officially obtained rights to the song.
The song will now be picturized on Yasir and Iqra’s characters in the film. Judging by the theme of the song, its setting will either be an incredibly happy one, or an intimate one. Whatever the case maybe, the song is sure to tug at a few heartstrings.
“Half Fry” will go on floors at the end of October.
