“Money Back Guarantee”, ostensibly the biggest film from Pakistan to hit theaters in 2023 finally released its official trailer. The film has a star-studded cast including familiar faces from television and film, both young and old and is being directed by comedian Faisal Qureshi. Fawad Khan, Javed Sheikh, Rambo, Mani, Kiran Malik, Wasim Akram and Shaniera Akram, Hina Dilpazeer, Ayesha Omar, Adnan Jaffer, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Gohar Rasheed, and many more star in the film.
The film is an old-fashioned heist caper that takes its cue from films like “Ocean’s Eleven”, or “The Italian Job”, and most recently, “Money Heist”. The makers have implied in previous trailers that the film is a copy of many famous films. In the official trailer, they say “From the same maker who has not seen Money Heist yet (sic)”. The filmmakers are trying to signal that they’re self-aware and aren’t trying to make an original film, just a very entertaining one.
The film is about a group of robbers trying to rob a bank called “Pak Bank”, run by Fawad Khan’s character. The bank apparently has ties to scheming politicians and an upcoming election. The currency doesn’t look anything like Pak rupees, so the setting seems to be symbolic, if not entirely fictional.
“Money Back Guarantee” will hit theaters this Eid Ul Fitr. The biggest film on the cards this year, one hopes it can bring in massive numbers.
