PTV FLIX: PTV Finally Launches Streaming Service

PTV FLIX is live! The streaming service which allows you to watch several PTV shows and special plays, old and new, is available on PC, Android and iOS. For now, it seems to be free for all Pakistanis.

You may have heard of this project back when it was first announced by Fawad Chaudhry. It has come to fruition now, and it doesn’t look half bad.

The user interface for mobile users, both Android and iOS is fluid and fast, and every title on it plays effortlessly. However, the same can’t be said for the web version of the app. None of the titles streamed when we tried to access them on PC.

PTV FLIX doesn’t contain all of PTV’s library. Nowhere to be found are the plays “Taalim e Balighan” and “Mirza Ghalib Bandar Road Per” by Khwaja Moinuddeen, or “Jhok Siyaal” or the original “Khuda Ki Basti” which are all ostensibly in the possession of PTV.

However, there are welcome additions to the catalogue of dramas which were absent on YouTube and people’s personal collections. The complete original series “Aik Mohabbat Sau Afsanay” and “Teesra Kinara” are present. So are “Andhera Ujala”, “Kiran Kahani”, “Waaris”, “Ainak Wala Jinn” and “Dhuwan”.

The 6th PTV awards are also present, but no others. “Inspector Khoji” and several episodes of the iconic “Alif Noon” and “Fifty Fifty” are also absent. You can find a lot of these shows in their entirety, or at least in more complete versions on YouTube and other free streaming sites.

All in all, it’s a good step to digitize the treasure that PTV has in its vaults. However, they must do more to include everything that they have in their vaults.

PTV FLIX is available on iOS, Android, and PC.
