Na Baligh Afraad (Trailer Review): The ‘Na Maloom Afraad’ Flavour is Back

Fizza Ali Meerza and Nabeel Qureshi are back this Eid Ul Azha with “Na Baligh Afraad”. The trailer immediately gives off the flavour of a high energy heist or a caper. With several scenes reminiscent of the original “Na Maloom Afraad”, the film promises a lot of laughs and high-octane thrills.

The two protagonists played by Aashir Wajahat and Samar Jafri are school going teenagers in the 90s. They seem to rent a video tape from the local shop which lands them in trouble with a series of “villains”. In the film they’re on the run from school bullies, local goons, and their parents.

Interspersed throughout the trailer are shots of 90s Indian films, Saleem Javed/Hassan Jahangir hairdos, cola advertisement posters, and the Pakistani cricket uniform from the 1992 world cup.

This all signals a return to the basics for the Fizza-Nabeel team. Aside from the title’s obvious reference to ‘Na Maloom Afraad’, the film seems to reside in the same universe and operate by the same rules. And there seems to be no unnecessary detour to pull in male audiences either.

The plot is still unclear beyond the tape and money being involved. However, the film seems to be tightly edited and shot on a low budget. That’s something which is sorely needed for Pakistani cinema right now.

‘Na Baligh Afraad’ stars Aashir Wajahat, Samar Jafri, Aadi Adeel Amjad, Rimha Ahmed, Mani, Saleem Meiraj, Ehteshamuddin, and Irfan Motiwala.

You can catch it in theaters on Eid Ul Azha. Book your tickets now.
