‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ (Review): Fahad Mustafa’s Comeback Vehicle Is Worth Watching!

Fahad Mustafa’s comeback drama ‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ has been the talk of the town ever since the first look and subsequent teasers were released. The project marks the actor’s return to TV after a decade and pairs up with Hania Aamir for the first time. The show was written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Badar Mehmood. So does Mustafa’s comeback vehicle manage to impress? Let’s Analyze.

What’s ‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ About?

Sharjeena (Hania Aamir) is getting married to Adeel (Emmad Irfani) and the wedding preparations are in full swing. They both have distinct personalities, the former has been a topper in her studies. The latter is ambitious, quite materialistic but well-settled in life. Adeel’s younger brother Mustafa (Fahad Mustafa) is a non-serious person and takes no responsibility in life. He hacks accounts to earn money. One day he gets jailed, Adeel and his father Iftikhar (Javed Sheikh) get him bail. Iftikhar is sick and tired of his reckless behavior. He tells him to get rid of his bad company and help him with the wedding preparations. Few days before the wedding Adeel finds out that his boss is interested in marrying him.

Interesting Aspects

The story at its core isn’t very different but the presentation certainly is. It’s relatable as it highlights the realities of a desi household in society. Ishtiaq develops well-nuanced characters that have depth. The director is in no rush, he takes his time and establishes the plot. One of the main highlights is the amazing camera work. The opening shot displays the wedding card on screen, the camera moves around each character and moves forward. Similarly, the outdoor shots of Mustafa riding his bike and Sharjeena in the shopping mall are refreshing. The proceedings are entertaining and fast-paced throughout.

Wonderful Performances

It is actually good to see Fahad Mustafa back on TV. It seems he has chosen the right script for his comeback. He looks convincing as ‘Mustafa’, his laid-back mannerism, attitude and dialect are flawless. Hania Aamir looks beautiful and plays her part with a lot of grace. We are super excited to see their camaraderie in the upcoming episodes. It’s a pleasure to see Emmad Irfani again. He gets a strong part and performs well. We also see Tauseeq Haider after a long time; he’s first-rate as Sharjeena’s father. Veteran Javed Sheikh and Bushra Ansari as Mustafa’s parents are highly effective.

Verdict So Far

‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ takes a good start and is worth watching. It connects with viewers due to a relatable plot, dramatic moments and good performances. The pre-release hype and Fahad Mustafa’s comeback are an added advantage to get huge viewership.
