List of All Pakistani Films Announced for Release in 2020

2020 is expected to be bigger and better for the Pakistani film industry. Last year 22 films made it into cinemas and this year more than 40 titles are expected to release. With films like “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad”, “London Nahi Jaunga”, “Fatman”, “Money Back Guarantee” and “The Legend of Maula Jatt”, the annual gross of this year might break the record of 2018. Here’s a list of all the films that are announced for 2020.

1) Zindagi Tamasha

Directed by Sarmad Khoosat and produced in collaboration with Khoosat Films and Distribution Club, “Zindagi Tamasha” stars Eman Suleman, Arif Hasan, Ali Kureshi and Samiya Mumtaz in lead roles. Film will release on 24th of January, 2020.

2) Thori Setting Thora Pyar

Directed by Fayyaz Idrees, the romantic comedy film stars Saeeda Imtiaz, Malik Aqeel, Maira Bangash and Noman Habib in lead roles. The film is expected to release in March

3) Yaara Vey

Starring Sami Khan, Aleeze Nasser, Faizan Khawaja, Jawed Sheikh and Marina Khan, “Yaara Vey” is being produced by Beeline Productions and Elite Films. It is written by Mahwash Ajaz and Althea Kaushal and is directed by Dubai-based Indian director Manish Pawar. The film is expected to release in March.



4) Senti Aur Mental

Yasra Rizvi’s project “Senti Aur Mental” is also expected to release in the first quarter of the year. The filmis written and directed by Yasra Rizvi andthe cast includes Yasra, Faryal Mehmood, Zain Afzal and Arez Syed.

5) Gawah Rehna

Based on the Khilafat movement, “Gawah Rehna” is written and directed by Tahir Mehmood. The cast includes Emmad Irfani, Ghana Ali, Qavi and Mert Sismanlar. The film is expected to release in the first half of the year.

6) Kahay Dil Jidhar

Starring Mansha Pasha and Junaid Khan, “Kahay Dil Jidhar” is written and produced by Kamran Bari and is being helmed byJalaluddin Roomi. The action packed masala flick is expected to release in first half of the year.



7) Huay Tum Ajnabee

Based on the tragic incidents surrounding the fall of Dhakka, “Huy Tum Ajnabee” has been in production for three years. The cast of the film includes Mikaal Zulfikar, Shamoon Abbasi, Sadia Khan, Ayesha Omar and Aly Khan. The period drama is helmed by famous talk show host Kamran Shahid and it will hopefully get its theatrical release this year.

8) Ishrat: Made in China

Ishtat: Made in China” will mark the directorial debut of Mohib Mirza. The action comedy will feature Mohib along with Sanam Saeed, Sara Loren and Shamoon Abbasi in major roles while ace fashion designer HSY will be seen as the antagonist. The film is expected to release in the first half of the year.

9) Tich Button

Produced by UrwaHocane under her production company, Shooting Star Studio, “Tich Button” stars Farhan Saeed, Feroze Khan, Iman Aly and Sonya Hussynin lead roles. The musical romantic drama is written by Faiza iftikhar and directed by Qasim Mureed. The film is expected to release on Eid-ul-Fitr.

10) Kamli

This Saba Qamar starrer is produced by the collaboration of Khoosat Films and Distribution Club. Directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, “Kamli” will release on Eid-ul-Fitr.



11) Wajahat Rauf’s Untitled Film

Though the title and has not been announced as of yet, Wajahat Rauf told Pakistani Cinema that the film is a romantic comedy with a strong message and will be produced in collaboration with Distribution Club for Eid-ul-Fitr.

12) Sorry Baba

Comedian Naseem Vicky’s directorial debutis a Punjabi film that will star Jawed Sheikh in a major role. “Sorry Baba” is written by Naseem himself and produced by Chaudhry Kamran Ejaz and Amjad Rasheed (Distribution Club). The film is expected to release around Eid-ul-Fitr.

13) Pardey Mein Rehny Do

Written and directed by Mohsin Ali, “Pardey Mein Rehny Do”will star Ahsan Khan in lead role. The comedy drama will go on floors soon and is expected to release around Eid-ul-Fitr.

14) The Legend of Maula Jatt

This Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malick starrer is the most anticipated project of the last few years. If the makers could complete the post production work and the claims by the producers of original “Maula Jatt” don’t cause further delay, the film is rumored to release on Eid-ul-Fitr, 2020.



15) Lafangey

The horror comedy is written and directed by Abdul Khaliq Khan, (writer and producer of “Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai”) and produced by Tariq Habib. Starring Sami Khan, Saleem Meraj, Mani, Mubeen Gabol, Nazish Jahangir and Tariq Habib in major roles, the film is currently in its post production phase and is expected to release on Eid-ul-Fitr.

16) Half Fry

Abu Aleeha’s third film (director of “Kataksha” and “Tevar”) stars Iqra Aziz, Yasir Hussain, Faryal Mehmood and Faizan Khawaja. The masala flick has been announced for an Eid-ul-Fitr release.

17) Dum Mastam

Helmed by “Superstar” director Mohammed Ehteshammudin, “Dum Mastam” will mark the cinema debut of actors Amar Khan and Imran Ashraf. The film is penned by Amar herself and is produced by Adnan Sidiqui and Akhtar Husnain under the banner of their production company, Cereal Entertainment. This one also will release around Eid-ul-Fitr.



18) Rehbra

Amin Iqbal’s film, after a hiatus of two years, will now finally release this year. Starring Ahsan Khan, Ayesha Omar and Sarish Khan, “Rehbra” is expected to release around Eid-ul-Fitr.

19) Zarrar

Shaan Shahid’s long awaited film is also expected to finally release in the year 2020. Helmed by Shaan himself, “Zarrar” stars Shaan Shahid and Kiran Malik in lead roles.

20) Money Back Guarantee

Team Money Back Guarantee Wraps First Spell of Shoot

Starring Fawad Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Waseem Akram in lead roles, “Money Back Guarantee” is the directorial debut of Faisal Qureshi. The film is expected to release on any of the two Eids of 2020.

21) Hassan Zia’s Untitled Film

Producer Hassan Zia is working these days on his next film after “Wrong No. 2”, this time under his production company Mastermind Productions. The film’s cast is yet to be finalized and Hassan plans to release this film in 2020.



22) Uzair Zaheer’s Animated Film

The maker of “Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor”, Uzair Zaheer Khan, has begun working on his next animated feature. Reports suggest that it’s a sequel to Allahyar however the official announcement is yet to be made. This film is expected to release in Summers, 2020.

23) Chakkar

Feroze Khan and Mawra Hocane to Star in Yasir Nawaz’s Next Film

Though the title is not official as of yet but for now Yasir Nawaz’s film is being called “Chakkar”. The comedy thriller will star Feroze Khan, Mawra Hocane and Yasir himself in lead roles. Film will go on floors around March and is expected to release in second half of 2020.

24) Once Upon a Time in Karachi

Based on the culture of Karachi, the film is written by famous TV writer Ali Moeen and will be directed by Abu Aleeha. The film will be produced under the banner of Metro Live Films and it’s expected to release around Eid-ul-Fitr.



25) Delhi Gate

Nadeem Cheema’s “Delhi Gate” is halfway into production. Film stars Yasir Khan, Suzain Fatima, Roma Michael, Jawed Sheikh and Shamoon Abbasi. Film is expected to release in Summers.

26) Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad

Mahira Khan to Star opposite Fahad Mustafa in “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad”

Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad” stars Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa. The cop drama is produced by Filmwala Pictures and is directed by Nabeel Qureshi. Film is announced for Eid-ul-Azha release.

27) London Nahi Jaunga

Six Sigma Plus’s title, “London Nahi Jaunga” is being written by Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar and will be directed by Nadeem Baig. The Humayun Saeed starrer is expected to go on sets later in January and is said to release on Eid-ul-Azha.

28) Patakh De

Momina Duraid’s next production, “Patakh De” will star Ahsan Khan, Azaan Sami Khan, Kubra Khan and Hania Amir and will be directed by Saifee Hasan. The shoot is expected to begin in February and going by the previous two films by MD, this too can be expected to release on Eid-ul-Azha.



29) Qulfee

Moamar and Sana to Romance in Qulfi

Marking the directorial debut of Lollywood’s ace cinematographer, Saleem Daad, “Qulfee” features an ensemble cast that includes Moamar Rana, Shahroz Sabzwari, SaeedaImtiaz, Sana Fakhar, Mariam Ansari and Wali Hamid Ali. Written and produced by Mashood Qadri under the banner of Kalakar Entertainment, film is currently under production and the makers are planning for an Eid-ul-Azha release.

30) Bhag Bhootni Kay

Director of horror flick “Pari” is coming back with a horror comedy this time, titled “Bhag Bhootni Kay”.The film stars Junaid Akhter and Nawal Saeed in lead roles.Shooting will begin on January 20 and film will release sometime in 2020.

31) Sorry: A Love Story

Sorry: A Love Story Update

Co produced by actor Faysal Qureshi and ace music video director Sohail Javed, “Sorry: A Love Story” will be directed by Sohail himself and will mark his debut as feature film director. The cast of the film includes Faysal Qureshi, Zahid Ahmed, Amina Sheikh and Faryal Mehmood. Speaking to Pakistani Cinema, Sohail informed that they will shoot the last spell in March and are planning to release the film in third quarter of the year.

32) Come on Abhinandan

“Come on Abhinandan” will be a satire on Indian Air Force Pilot Abhinandan. The film is written by Khalil-Ur-RehmanQamar and will be produced under his production company, KRQ Films. Cast and details will be announced soon. This one will go on sets in February and will release in the second half of year.



33) Dhai Chaal

Starring Shamoon Abbasi as Kalbhushan Yadav, “Dhai Chaal” is said to be a thriller with sub layers of romance. The film is written by Farheen Chaudhry, produced by Irfan Ashraf and directed by Taimur Sherazi. It also stars Ayesha Omar and Humayoun Ashraf. Currently “Dhai Chaal” is under production in Quetta and it’s expected to release in cinemas sometime next year.

34) Middle Class

The producer of “Balu Mahi”, Sadia Jabbar is working on her next film which is titled “Middle Class”. The film is written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and it will be helmed by “Jackpot” director, Shoaib Khan. “Middle Class” will be a co-production by HKC Entertainment.

35) The Window

Filmmaker duo Ammar Lasani and Kanza Zia are shooting their next film these days, “The Window”, which is a collaboration with an independent Hollywood film production company. The film stars Faysal Qureshi, Sami Khan, Suhaee Abroo and Faran Tahir and is expected to release sometime in 2020.

36) Jugnu 

Jami Mehmood’s film “Jugnu” couldn’t release last year and so we hope that the film sees daylight this year. The film is produced by Jami’s production house, Azad Films company, and is directed by Ali Abbas Naqvi.



37) Khoobsurat

Written by Asma Nabeel, “Khoobsurat” addresses body shaming. Film will be directed by Umer Adil, director of “ChalayThay Sath”, and it’s a joint venture of Crew Motion Pictures and Distribution Club. This film is also expected to hit theatres in 2020.

38) Fly

Another project by Asma Nabeel on yet another important subject, i-e, breast cancer, “Fly” will be produced under the banner of Crew Motion Pictures. Cast and other details are yet to be announced. Film is scheduled to go on floors in January and the makers plan to release the film in October.

39) Tery Bajre Di Rakhi

Syed Noor has also started working on his next film titled “Tery Bajre Di Rakhi”. The film stars Jannat Mirza and Saima Noor in major roles.

40) 36 Garh

Nadeem Cheema has already begun working on his next film “36 Garh”, before shooting the final spell of “Delhi Gate”. Nadeem has recently shot the title song of film at Evernew studios which features Sana Fakhar.

41) Chaudhry

Based on the life of SSP Chaudhry Aslam, the biopic is directed by AzeemSajjad. The cast of the film includes Sana Fakhar, Shamoon Abbasi, Yasir Hussain and Tariq Islam. This film, after a few delays, is now expected to release this year.



42) Fatman

Dealing with the subject of body shaming, Filmwala Pictures’ next feature stars Ahmed Ali Butt in lead role and will be directed by Nabeel Qureshi. “Fatman” will go on sets in February and is expected to release in theatres in December, 2020.

43) Love Guru, Hoja Shuru

Six Sigma Plus’ next feature after “London Nahi Jaunga” will be “Love Guru Hoja Shuru”. The film is written by Vasay Chaudhry and will be directed by Nadeem Baig. The comedy flick is expected to release in December.
