7 Films to Release in Cinemas on Eid Ul Azha!

It seems like the Eid Dangals just won’t let up. 5 films came out Eid-ul-Fitr this year, and now 7 are coming out on Eid Ul Azha. Of these, 6 are Pakistani, and only one is from Hollywood.

So, here are the local offerings for Pakistani filmgoers this Baqr Eid:

Allahyar and the 100 Flowers of God

The biggest release of Eid-ul-Azha is the sequel to ‘Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor’. ‘The 100 Flowers of God’ is a fantastic name. And the visuals from the trailer look incredible. This could be a game changer for the Pakistani film industry and may just break the mold.

Madaari

‘Madaari’ is the directorial debut of Seraj Us Salikin. It’s a deeply personal story about a young man from Karachi searching for his father’s murderer. Target killings, terrorism and ‘bhatta khori’ are things that every Karachiite will remember vividly from one point in their life or another. ‘Madaari’ looks like a very mature exploration of those memories. This is the kind of film which needs your support. We encourage you all to give this one a watch.

VIP

VIP is a commercial entertainer directed by debutante Rana Kamran. Starring Saleem Meiraj, Saife Hassan, Ehteshamuddin, and Danish Nawaz, the film is about politicians who try to game the system and put up a puppet candidate. The trailer promises a lot of song and dance and a lot of comedy as well. This is one film that you can comfortably take your family to for a great time.

Babylicious

The romance release of Eid-ul-Azha is the Syra Yousuf, Shehroze Sabzwari starrer ‘Babylicious’. The film is about love loss, and the struggle to regain it. The trailer promises a lot of great visuals and perhaps a very emotional storyline. It’s not the kind of film that we haven’t seen before, but it at least promises some good old romance.

Teri Meri Kahaniyaan

This is the most different film out of the ones releasing this Eid-ul-Azha. An anthology film directed by Nadeem Baig, Nabeel Qureshi, and Marina Khan. The 3 stories in the film will be as varied as the filmmakers and will include comedy, horror, and intense drama. The film has an ensemble cast that includes Mehwish Hayat, Wahaj Ali, Zahid Ahmed, Amna Ilyas, Shehryar Munawar, Ramsha Khan, Hira Mani, Mani and Babar Ali.

Laday Da Viyah

The regional release for Eid-ul-Azha is the Punjabi flick ‘Laday Da Viyah’. The film is a regular wedding celebration starring new and old names including Raheel Agha, Saleem Albela, Shafqat Cheema, Ali Yalmaz, and Mahrukh Mirza.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

The fifth entry of the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise stars the original Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller Bridge from the hit show ‘Fleabag’. The film has already gotten a roaring reception at Cannes and is poised to be a money spinner at the box office. Fans of the original trilogy and Harrison Ford himself may be tempted to take their family to this one.

Filmgoers will be spoilt for choice this Eid-ul-Azha. Whatever you choose, we hope you enjoy yourselves.
