Box Office: Hollywood Flicks Maintain Strong Hold at the Pakistani Box Office

Within the last 3 months 4 foreign box office hits have emerged at the Pakistani box office. These include “Joker”, “Ford vs. Ferrari”, “Terminator: Dark Fate”, and “Frozen II”. Let’s take a look at their collections and hold over the box office.

Frozen II

Frozen II has emerged as a bona fide success at the Pakistani box office. The sequel to the wildly successful Disney animated feature is ruling the roost, especially due to the appeal it has towards kids and family audiences.

It has been in theaters for now 3 weeks straight and its box office collection stands at 5.85 Crore. It will be the first English animated film to earn 6 Crore at the Pakistani box office. “Frozen II” has also bagged two nominations at Golden Globes 2020, of ‘Best Animated Film’ and ‘Best Original Song’ for “into the unknown”.

Ford vs. Ferrari

Filled with great performances, adrenaline pumping sequences of racing cars, and beautiful scenes of race tracks, “Ford vs Ferrari” ticked all the boxes for a cinematic entertainer. Christian Bale and Matt Damon deliver awesome performances and for that reason alone, it deserves to be seen.

Both of them seemed to have worked their magic at the Pakistani box office as well, since the film is now entering its fourth weekend. Its total collection now stands at 1.52 Crore. It is about to end its run at the box office, but its presence has been felt at a time when Pakistani cinemas were feeling the need for an adrenaline shot.

Terminator: Dark Fate

“Terminator: Dark Fate” brought back Arnold Schwarzenegger as the iconic Terminator and Linda Hamilton as the badass Sarah Connor. Though the film wasn’t a huge hit with critics, it has managed to maintain a strong hold at the box office.

Fans of the franchise in Pakistan are the reason that it has maintained its hold at the box office for almost 40 days. Entering its sixth week in Pakistan, it’s on its way to breaking the 50 day run milestone. Its box office collection is now 4.03 Crore.

Joker

Official figures for “Joker” are not available. However, the fact that it was still being shown in theaters till the end of November is testament to its hold at the box office. As per unofficial estimates, film has rakes up approximately 15 Crore.

No matter the box office figures, “Joker” was a mammoth success. It’s a landmark superhero film as well as a great drama. It has now been nominated for ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Actor’ for Joaquin Phoenix at the 2020 Golden Globes.

Future Films

December being the last month of the year is bound to pack a punch at the box office. “Jumanji: The Next Level”, “Star Wars the Rise of Skywalker”, and “Aeronauts” are all coming out in December. They’ll deliver huge footfalls this month because of their commercial appeal. Perhaps that’ll help us close out the year with a bang.
